Julianne Mulvey

Houston, TX

Julianne Mulvey, bassoon, is a first-year Master’s student at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, studying with Benjamin Kamins. Julianne is a two-time finalist in the Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, receiving 2nd prize in 2019 and honorable mention in 2021. Other honors include 2020 finalist in the Mika Hasler Competition, 2018 finalist in the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition and performing on the NPR radio show From the Top in 2017.

For the past three summers, Julianne has been a Tanglewood Music Center Fellow, working with conductors such as Andris Nelsons and having the opportunity to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. At Rice, Julianne is a coordinator for the J.U.M.P. outreach program, allowing her to interact with the Houston community and bring relevant programming to different age groups. Julianne completed her B.M. at Rice University in 2021 and her other principal teachers include Richard Svoboda of
he Boston Symphony Orchestra and Neil Fairbairn.
