Cullen began studying clarinet at the age of nine, and fell in love with the instrument over the course of his primary education. In 2015, he transferred to the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities where he studied clarinet with Dr. Kyra Zhang. After graduating in 2017, Cullen began studying clarinet at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the direction of James Campbell, and later Luis Rossi and Andrea Levine. During this time he received instruction and training from distinguished pedagogues such as Steve Cohen, Tom Martin, Eli Eban, and Howard Klug. Cullen currently is working as a freelance performer and teacher of the clarinet in the upstate of South Carolina.
