McKey Monroe, Mezzo-Soprano, is a senior vocal performance major at Converse University. She attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities for her last two years of high school and got the opportunity to study voice there and begin her performing career. During her first two years attending Converse, she studied with Professor Rebecca Turner. Currently, she studies with Professor Emalie Savoy and is coached by Mrs. Mildred Roche.
Ms. Monroe has performed in many choir performances from South Carolina to Vatican City. She has also performed solo work in a senior recital in which she performed pieces by Chausson. She is currently preparing for a senior recital that she will perform in the fall of 2021. Ms. Monroe has competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singin competition. In this competition, she advanced to the regional portion of the competition and won first place in her category of First Year College Women for Musical Theatre. Winning this category gave her the opportunity to perform in the Honors Recital at the end of the competition in which she performed “Always True to You in My Fashion” from Kiss Me Kate by Cole Porter.
