Santiago Del Castillo Aréchiga

Mexican-American violist Santiago Del Castillo Aréchiga has had a varied and extensive musical career for the last decade. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Santiago would eventually move to the United States at a young age and begin studying the viola shortly thereafter.

Upon relocating to the North East at the age of 15, Santiago began intense musical training at the precollege division of Mannes School Music under Adria Benjamin. Santiago recently received his Bachelor of Music degree from Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Daniel Panner and is currently pursuing his Masters degree at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music under Helen Callus.

Throughout his career Santiago has studied with Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Shmuel Katz, Peter Slowick, Jessica Meyer, André Roy, Masumi per Rostad, and
members of the Attacca, Shanghai, Lark, Orion, and Juilliard string quartets. An avid performer of new music with a commitment to upholding works from marginalized communities, Santiago has collaborated with numerous established and rising living composers.
