Athens, GA

Will Halloran is a tubist from the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and is currently based in Athens, Georgia. At the age of 11, he became interested in music and joined his middle school band program, where he was introduced to the tuba. He was quickly fascinated by the performance and composition of music and has maintained that interest since.

Throughout high school, Will was involved in every facet of his school’s band program. A graduate of Lassiter High School, he was fortunate enough to participate in nationally recognized marching band and concert band programs. As a member of these high school ensembles, he has performed at conferences such as the Music For All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Georgia Music Educators Association conference in Athens, Georgia. He was a member of the District XII Honor Band and Georgia All-State Band multiple times, and was selected to attend the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program in 2017 to study classical music.

Will currently attends the University of Georgia where he studies tuba performance and music business. During his time in college, he has received instruction from renowned tuba pedagogue David Zerkel and former United States Air Force Band euphoniumist Dr. Matthew Shipes. UGA offers many performance opportunities, and Will has played several concerts with the UGA Symphony Orchestra, Hodgson Wind Ensemble, UGA Wind Symphony, UGA British Brass Band, and UGA Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble. He has served in principal positions in many of these groups. He was invited as a member of the UGA Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble to play at the 2019 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Iowa City, Iowa. Later that year, he was selected to attend the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute.

Will also enjoys collaborating with his peers in chamber groups, and often plays in chamber settings such as brass quintet and tuba quartet. When he is not playing or studying classical music, Will listens to 90s and 00s rock and plays along on his bass guitar. He also enjoys hiking, board games, and disc golf, as well as spending time with his friends and family.
