Erik Larson

New York, NY

Erik was introduced to trumpet at the age of 11. Erik knew almost instantly that he wanted to earn his living as a professional musician. Erik committed to study at Rutgers, Mason Gross School of Music Young Artist Pre-College Program. Erik played in every youth program available to him, including Rowan University Youth Orchestra, Atlantic Youth Brass Brand, Atlantic County Community Pops, and Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra. Erik’s time and travel commitments yielded success as he was
invited to join Bravo Brass and ultimately became principal trumpet for the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and was the recipient of their Outstanding Service Award.

Now a third year student at Juilliard, Erik is proud of his 3.81 GPA and thrilled by the many playing opportunities he has had, such as playing Olivier Messiaen’ Turangalila in David Geffen Hall and starting Brass 22, a brass quintet with four other Juilliard students also due to graduate in 2022. This quintet was
awarded the American Brass Quintet Seminar Fellowship, an award given to only three chamber groups at the esteemed Aspen Music Festival. Erik is genuinely happy to give back to the community through music.
